I want to know that you see how this hurts me, and that you’re sorry. I need you to acknowledge your insensitivity or I’ll leave, and I might leave anyway. I mean, how can you help if you hurt?”
I want to know that I exist in your mind and heart, that I persist there as a fond memory. I want to know that I impact you in a lasting way, that you carry me with you, and that you enjoy my remembering. Remembering my name? Powers me up into the next level of feeling loved!
This is one of my favorites to date! How as guides do we choose the most efficient path towards health? Do we emphasize resolving defenses against life or deepen the experience of life itself? Focus on pain or joy, failure or success, sin or salvation, suffering or enlightenment, impermanence or the Absolute? And what if there is a choice that is not either/or, but non-dualistic? Where then, is the trailhead for the pathless path?
Because hard defenses can dominate even the toughest therapist. Also a take on Projective Identification; unconscious feelings being ‘pushed’ into therapist who may think they’re his own.
Here it is, the first strip, which is dedicated to the mystery of transference. Oh how suddenly and unexpectedly it emerges!
